Hands up all those who bemoan the fact that people these days just turn a blind eye when someone is in trouble! well now we have a good example of someone going out of their way to help, and then getting punished for it!
It was a random act of kindness that should have been rewarded.

No Government reforms can ‘make good the evil’ that happened to Baby P, Children’s Secretary Ed Balls said today.
He was speaking on GMTV this morning as the government prepares to put forward legislation to protect vulnerable children.
It follows the case of Baby P who died after suffering more than 50 injuries.
Mr Balls is expected to install new bosses in the crisis-hit department in Haringey when an urgent inquiry is completed into the toddler’s violent death.

Concern is growing over the safety of a mother who fled with her five daughters after learning they may be taken into care.
Natalie Bracht, 35, vanished from her home in Sunderland along with her children aged between five and 13.
Miss Bracht, who suffers from a personality disorder, was told she would almost certainly lose them after medical experts expressed concern for their welfare while in her care.

A newborn boy died after a ‘holistic’ midwife delayed sending his mother to hospital during a home birth, a hearing was told today.
Deborah Purdue, 47, failed to monitor the woman and ignored clear warning signs the baby was in distress, the Nursing and Midwifery Council was told.
She was said to have ignored a monitor which repeatedly showed the unborn child had an increased heart rate.

A mother who surfed a dating website for men hours after smothering her three-year- old son to death was jailed for life yesterday.
Tara Haigh saw her son Billy as an ‘inconvenience’ to her ’socialising and dating’, police said.
Hours after holding a pillow over her son’s face, the 24-year-old began using the internet  -  telling one acquaintance on the site Girls Date For Free, that her son had died because of a tumour behind his ear.

Couples may soon be given the option of screening embryos for all genetic diseases after a revolutionary breakthrough by British scientists.
A ‘universal test,’ which will allow prospective parents at risk of passing on gene defects to conceive healthy children with IVF, is understood to be nearing completion.
The test can identify the genetic defects behind conditions such as muscular dystrophy, cystic fibrosis and Huntington’s disease.
