The hunt is on for ‘Britain’s Top Real Role Model’ – could it be you or someone you know and admire?

The search is being led by a panel of judges chaired by entrepreneur and Pineapple CEO Debbie Moore, OBE, and includes Claire Young, Amway’s first UK Business Ambassador and former contestant on The Apprentice.

Having a child can often be a real wake-up call where work is concerned. You may well have been the career woman who didn’t leave e building until you were literally lifted off your seat. Y the security guards who wanted to go home, but now you have a child, you simply can’t do that anymore.

Suddenly, you train yourself to make more effective use of your time at work, so you get your work done to a high standard, but on time so you don’t see why (and don’t want to!) work unnecessarily long hours anymore.

That is often when a lot of mums start having problems at work. Wile you have changed, your colleagues have not and are not going to change, and they start to resent you leaving work on time, or just leaving before they do.

At some stage you will probably wish to discuss your idea with a third party. This could be informally, such as seeking advice or encouragement from friends or family, or formally, by hiring a professional consultant, or forming a partnership or joint venture with another company.

Remember, once you put an idea into the public domain it can no longer be considered confidential or a trade secret. You should therefore take steps to protect your intellectual property.
