Business mums

Sometimes no matter how flexible your employer is, working and raising a family just don't fit together. This can be a bitter pill to swallow, especially if you had always intended to carry on working, or if your family needs the salary you bring in.
We have been inspired by many women who have decided to set up their own businesses. Some have started with literally a couple of hundred pounds and have never looked back, as their businesses have grown and become a success.
We've heard from other mothers that a business idea doesn't have to be a genius invention - and it doesn't need a loan the size of a mortgage to kick it off either. Maybe you are great at making things, or have an excellent phone manner. You may not even know, but are certain that you can work towards making a successful venture and joining thousands of mumpreneurs. You can start small, working in the kitchen, with a franchise, or from your very own bed, by all accounts. Read our Real mums section to hear how other mums have made a success in business and made their family come first, too.
