If you or your other half wears a uniform to work, you could be entitled to claiming back tax on the cost of the uniform’s upkeep, replacement and repair.
Speak to your employer to find out if they are already paying you an untaxed allowance in lieu that covers this tax. If they are, you may still be able to claim a flat rate of tax back for cleaning, repairing and replacing your work uniform.
If in doubt, speak to your local tax office to confirm this.
If your employer provides your uniform, but doesn’t provide facilities for its cleaning, you can still claim back a similar deduction in tax.
