Don’t these women WANT to spend time with their new babies?

As a young journalist working on a business magazine, I once interviewed a company director who went back to work six weeks after giving birth to her baby. It was a family run business and she had the nanny and housekeeper anyway, but I thought she was amazing!

Roll on almost a decade later, a soon-to-be-four-year-old son of my own, and seven months pregnant and it’s not unusual to hear stories about mums who go back to work earlier than the six months/year maternity leave that the majority of women take. I went back when my son was a week shy of four months – but that was because I was working from home and he slept all the time anyway!

But the stories you’re about to read put a completely different spin on things:

1. New mum gives birth on Christmas Day (in less than three hours I might add, the lucky thing!) and has enough energy left over to make Christmas dinner!

2. French justice minsiter goes back to work just five days after giving birth – and apparently she looks hotter than ever (but I had no idea of her existence before so it’s hard to judge, but she does look fantastic!)

3. Louise Redknapp leaves eight-week-old baby behind to film documentary in LA. First of all, time really flies – it feels like just fortnight ago we heard she’d even had her second baby!
