A father killed four of his children when he crashed into a river in a Land Rover he had made ‘ill-judged’ and incompetent’ modifications to, a court heard today.
Nigel Gresham, 37, carried out a string of changes on his car for off-road driving but in so doing turned it into a death-trap unfit for public roads, a jury was told.
The alterations proved catastrophic when the 12-seater Land Rover 110 station wagon suddenly slewed off a narrow country lane and into a 15ft deep river during a family outing.
