We all want to feel liked, and loved, but it’s just not feasible that everyone gets the job interview of business contract they ever apply for.

If you’re rejected for a job you apply for, or lose a bid for a business-related contract don’t take it personally. It doesn’t mean that prospective employers and clients think you’re a loser – it just means that one didn’t work out. There will be others.

So, as the title says, what are the benefits of rejection?

It shows you where and what to change

Stop beating your head against a wall. You’ve been to numerous interviews for the same type of role and always get knocked out because you lack a particular qualification. Isn’t it time you looked into taking the necessary course? Or maybe you need to adjust the type of jobs you’re applying for…

Clients always complain about the same issue before kindly ending your contract with them. Maybe it’s time to review the products and/or services you’re providing. You’ve heard of the saying, ‘the customer’s always right’, haven’t you?

It’s a learning experiencing

Similar to the point mentioned before, rejection teaches you something about yourself and the industry you’re working in.

Are you really as passionate about doing this job, or this line of business? Maybe you’re just doing for the money…maybe it shows.

It makes you stronger

It takes strength to survive rejection – you might feel a sense of fear or failure initially, but you’ll move on and heal. Your next interview or pitch will be even better.

Practice makes perfect

The first rejection is hard – maybe you’ve spent hours researching for a role or a contract and really wanted to get your foot through the door. When rejection comes, it can really feel like all your good efforts haven’t paid off.

The truth is, you can use the rejection experiences to improve your pitch next time. Reflect on the questions you were asked, and the feedback you were give. Are there any gaps in knowledge or experience? Fill them for next time, and you’ll be able to put forward a stronger candidate for the job or contract.
