New advice on IVF treatment could deny women the chance of having a baby, experts claim.

Guidelines issued to fertility doctors today recommend that would-be mothers are implanted with only one embryo at a time wherever possible, to cut the odds of risky twin and triplet births.

However, there are fears that the restriction will also lower the odds of pregnancy? -? and so rob thousands of women of the joy of motherhood.

While many childless couples view twins as an ‘instant family’, the pregnancy carries increased dangers, with twins at greater risk of stillbirth and cerebral palsy than their single counterparts.
