It never ceases to amaze me how quickly children young and older can create ingrained mess in the car, but it is a little embarrassing if your mum’s taxi never seems to be clean.
The essential car vac
There are a lot of car vacs out there, but a lot of them just don’t seem to have the suction power needed to really picky up crumbs other culprits from those hard-to-reach parts of the car.
And in the spirit of saving money, you can ditch those car vacuums at the petrol station that can never do the job quite the way you want it done before your money runs out.
We tested out Lakeland’s Cordless Handheld Vac, and found it to do a fab job of keeping the car looking and staying fresh – and kids will love it, too. It’s small and portable, and means no more money wasting on car vacs at petrol stations that either don’t have the right nozzle on, or finish before you’ve even got through half of the car.
This vac charges for a good few hours for a 10-15 minutes worth of vacuuming, but it’s worth the wait because the suction is strong, and it comes with a neat little nozzle to get to those hard-to-reach places.
The must-have car bin
Side doors are known to have the odd crisp packets, and a sneaky apple core, leaving you red-faced when you offer someone a lift!
But where else are you supposed to put in-car rubbish? Plastic carrier bags might not be the safest option, especially if you have young adventurers in the car, so it really can be a tough call.
That’s why we love these collapsible car bins, also from Lakeland. They clip to the headrest and come in sensible black of fabtastic pink. The car bin collapses flat, so you can pop it out of the glove compartment when the rubbish starts to build, if you don’t want to have it hanging all the time.
Essential car accessories
A vehicle document holder may sound a bit boring, but we thought it was a nice addition to have in the car or at home, because it’s so dinky and basically means that you have somewhere to put all you car’s documents, so all those important documents are ready to hand when you have to renew your tax disc, are selling your car, or for any other reason without tipping the house upside down when the need arises.
