Having fun at the beach is something to look forward to this summer, but it could all end in misery if you don’t know how to tackle those minor health emergencies, from jellyfish stings to prickly heat. Some tips to stay safe:HEAT EXHAUSTION
This occurs when the body becomes dehydrated as a result of losing too much salt and water; it is caused by excessive heat and sweating. Symptoms include nausea and vomiting, light-headedness, tiredness, headaches and muscle cramps.
Children who are all ready suffering from sickness and diarrhoea – from a holiday tummy bug – are particularly vulnerable to heat exhaustion because they may already be dehydrated.
