Santa’s finances are a mess, help us help us #SaveSanta & #win an iPad2 with @FirstChoiceUK

Does anyone feel cheery this year in the run-up to Christmas? Is it just me or are fewer homes displaying Christmas lights this year than this time last year?

Well our friends in the US are planning to spend $764 (around £495) on gifts this year, according to a poll and that means that we probably aren’t that far behind.

But with most children believing that it’s Santa that buys all the presents, and not their parents, just how much would he spend if he really did foot the bill for all Christmas presents?

cost of ChristmasThis infograph goes into more details, but if Father Christmas really did spend $764 on every man, woman and child, he would land himself in more than $5billion worth of debt every year.

Depressing news, but cheer yourself up – First Choice is offering the ultimate Christmas gift; a 32GB iPad 2 WIFI to whoever comes up with the best solution to Santa’s predicament. Second prize is the complete Harry Potter DVD boxset. To enter, send your thoughts to blog@firstchoice.co.uk.
