Sponsored video: destroy germs and create smiles

As a mum, you’ve probably lost count of how many times you’ve had to remind your young children about washing their hands after using the toilet.

When you’re out and about with them, you take it for granted that there will be clean toilets for them to use – it’s more of an issue when toilets you come across aren’t kept to at least average standards.

But did you know that 2.5 billion people live without access to safe toilets? Or that 2,000 children die from diarrhoea every day – something that can be avoided with good sanitation? This is a basic human right, according to the United Nations, something we often don’t even think twice about.

That’s why we love that Domestos, the Unilever Foundation and UNICEF have joined forces to give basic sanitation in areas of need through the Community Approaches to Total Sanitation (CATS) programme.

CATS’ aim is to promote change – educating people about good hygiene practices, while raising awareness of the sanitation crisis so that diseases are not spread in communities.

Watch the heart-warming video below to see just how serious the need is:

You can do your bit by spreading the work on your social profiles (Facebook, Twitter etc). Youcantweet your support for the CATS campaignby using the hashtag #mumsfortoilets, too!

And finally, you can donate to UNICEF’s world sanitation programme here: http://unr.ly/18bdX1p
