Thinking of starting a blog? Here are two things you should know before you start

Are you thinking about starting your own blog? Do you fancy joining the ever-increasing list of mummy bloggers who are taking the internet by storm?

start a mummy blog with a clear plan from the outsetBlogging is a way for people to express how they feel on the internet, but it can also be a great way to make money. For many mummy bloggers, the aim isn’t always about making money through the blog (at least when they start out), so blogging then becomes something that you can do as a fun hobby.

Here are some of the blogging basics and how you can get started with your blog:

  1. Find something to talk about – a niche
  2. Before you start a blog, you will need to know what your niche is. A niche is basically what your blog is going to be about and it is important that you choose a niche that will get some traffic. You’ll need to find a niche that you know you can always find ideas to write about – something that you truly have a passion for.

Some mummy bloggers write about their family life, to begin with, many focus on a particular part of their family life – maybe the trips they take their children on, or products they like etc. these are all niches, as is writing about a particular topic like photography or baby sleep patterns.

  3. Your audience is expectant
  4. Writing a blog takes commitment. Once you start to build an audience, they’ll expect you to update your blog regularly or they’ll soon get bored.

Some bloggers choose a day of the week to publish their posts so that readers know when to expect a new post.

If you are able to get these blogging basics down, then you will be able to start blogging. Starting and running a blog is really not that tough and as long as you choose a niche that you have a passion for, you will never get sick of making blog posts.
