Tips For Staying Productive When Working From Home

Tips For Staying Productive When Working From Home

As a mother, it can be difficult to find time to work from home and be productive. Here are five tips that can help you stay on task and get things done:

1. Set a schedule and stick to it

One of the benefits of working from home is that you have more flexibility with your time. But that flexibility can also be a detriment if you don’t set a schedule and stick to it. By setting aside specific hours for work each day, you’ll be more likely to get things done. And if you have young children at home, take advantage of nap times or scheduled activities to get some work done.

2. Get dressed for work

It sounds silly, but getting dressed for work can help you get into the right mindset for being productive. If you’re working in your pyjamas, it’s easy to fall into the trap of taking more breaks or becoming distracted by household chores. But if you put on real clothes, it will signal to your brain that it’s time to focus on work.

3. Set up a dedicated workspace

If possible, dedicate a specific area of your home as your workspace. This will help you stay focused on work when you’re in that space. And if you can’t dedicate an entire room to your work, try to at least create a designated spot at the kitchen table or in another room where you can spread out and get things done.

4. Take breaks

Working from home can be isolating, so make sure to take breaks throughout the day to interact with other people. Step away from your desk to take a phone call or join an online meeting. Or take a break to eat lunch with your spouse or interact with your children for a few minutes. Just make sure those breaks are actually breaks and that you’re not multitasking by trying to do too many things at once.

5. Create a nightly routine

At the end of each workday, take some time to wrap up loose ends and prepare for the next day so you can hit the ground running when morning comes around again. Then establish a nightly routine that will help you disconnect from work mode and relax before bedtime so you can get a good night’s sleep. This might include reading, taking a bath or watching TV – whatever helps you unwind after a long day.

By following these tips, you can learn how to manage your time wisely, stay focused on work and be productive even when working from home!
