What to wear to your child’s birthday party

Whether you’re hosting your own child’s party or attending one of their friend’s parties, it can be tricky to work out what to wear. Some children’s parties involve bouncy castles or other games where you need to wear something practical but still want to look your best.

Ditch the boring jeans!

Jeans are usually a safe staple for all mum’s, however, they can feel a bit boring, or start to look tatty. A good alternative is a pair of chinos. This pair from Jigsaw come in a ‘safe’ blue, as well as a muted purple if you’re feeling a bit more adventurous. Chinos really are great for running around in and can be paired with almost anything, jumpers, cardigans and tees, they’re an ideal way to update and refresh your look yet still maintain a level of comfort.

Don’t be a sweaty Betty!

Another issue that you can have at birthday parties is knowing what the temperature will be like. Sometimes if it’s at the child’s home it can get very warm with lots of children running around, or it could be in a local Church hall that might not be well heated. To ensure you’re prepared for all occasions; layer up! Cardigans and scarves are a great way to wrap up but also easily removed if you get too warm. This one from Hobbs is very versatile and the knit pattern is right on trend. Pair it with a plain tee and vibrant necklace to complete the look.

Shoes…glorious shoes!

Finally, shoes! Again, practicality is the forefront of the request, if you’re wondering around in the garden you don’t want to ruin your favourite suede boots in the mud! And it’s quite likely that you will be on your feet for a lot of the day. Knee high boots make a statement but the solidity of the shoe makes them practical for all occasions.

A good pair of elegant knee high boots will help to elongate your legs and a sensible heel will help to ensure maximum comfort!
