I?ve lost count of the number of people who tell me how exciting it must be to be a journalist ? and yes it can and has been. I?ve also lost count of the number of people who have tried to coax me into setting up a print magazine with them ? and the shock on their faces when I tell them that they can actually do it themselves, and make a healthy profit.
My Mag is a franchise opportunity available in the UK for anyone who wishes they could have their very own magazine. It?s a fantastic business offering. Read Paula Mickey?s story below for some inspiration.
?I?d only been living in Tickhill for a couple of weeks when I saw an advert for My Mag in Prima magazine. ?To Women Who Want to Earn Full Time Money in Part Time Hours? the advert was headed. Well that was me for sure. I went straight onto the My Mag website and as I started reading, the first thing that hit me was the similarity between mine and Sue?s history. I made my decision, I was going to become a ?My Magger?!
?It is almost three years now since I first delivered copies of my first magazine through 2000 doors in my village and nervously waited for a response. And what a response there has been! The magazine has grown from 24 pages to 68 pages and barely a day goes by without someone contacting me about the magazine. I lost sleep in the early weeks worrying whether I had made a big mistake, but once the first magazine was out there I have never looked back. My Mag has been one of the best things I have ever done in my life and I now have two magazines covering two separate communities.
?My magazines are very profitable. My smallest one takes me only one week of each month to produce, yet generates an income that many would be considered a full-time monthly salary. The other one generates almost twice as much revenue. My Mag has been really fantastic for me and my local community and the team at head office are very supportive. My magazines aren?t the biggest earning out there, but they are not the smallest, either, and I am definitely much better off than I would have been if I had returned to work ? and I don?t just mean financially!?
My Mag is a very simple business.
It?s very profitable ? and very fulfilling and rewarding to do. Once you?ve set it up it?s very part-time
Indeed, one of the biggest benefits for most ?My Maggers? is that it in fits really well around your family ? helping you to genuinely achieve that ideal work-life balance.
My Mag is?NOT a ?get-rich-quick? scheme.? It won?t make you a millionaire, but it has got the potential to generate an income for you that is well into four figures every month.? There are hundreds of people running My Mag businesses that are earning them ?2,000, ?3,000, ?4,000 even ?5,000 per month and more.
So what exactly is My Mag?
It?s a complete ?business-in-a-box? that gives you everything you need to set-up, launch and run your very own local community magazine for your neighbourhood.
Your magazine will be professionally printed, (that?s your only significant ongoing cost) so it looks great, and it will be jam-packed with useful information, features, restaurant reviews, community news, cinema listings and useful phone numbers; it?s a local resident’s handbook, if you like and its been described as a cross between the Yellow Pages and a Parish magazine.
The important thing is, it?s your magazine. You?re the editor, you can call it what you like and put in there whatever you like. You have full control and flexibility. It?s your baby ? although we will provide you with guidance and suggestions based on our six years experience of what works across over 1,000 UK magazines.
As well as lots of local information your magazine will also contain advertising from local businesses. This is the really clever bit because advertising in My Mag publications is normally very, very effective for the right local businesses. Typically, they get a really good response from your magazine (we give you lots of tips and advice on how to make sure this happens) and, as a result, they stay with you, advertising month after month after month in many cases.
In short, when you follow the My Mag programme you?ll be able to quickly build a magazine that is:
- really valued by the local community ? as the best reference point to what is going on and where to go to get whatever they need.
- invaluable to local businesses ? as the best value and most effective form of advertising they can buy;
- very profitable for you.
In addition, My Mag is very enjoyable to run.
It?s fulfilling and rewarding and, of course, you can fit it in part-time around the children.
We run regular coffee mornings at our training facility in the Midlands for you to meet the team and some of our My Maggers and have a full information pack that we can send you in the post.
