MILLIONS of householders could be hammered with an extra ?140 a year on their council tax bills, it emerged last night.
The latest burden is set to be imposed to settle hundreds of thousands of sex discrimination claims against local councils. Council chiefs yesterday revealed that ?2.8billion was needed to foot the bill for women alleged to have been unfairly paid less than mail colleagues.
