A distraught father committed suicide because he could not get his daughter into the secondary school of her choice, an inquest has heard.
Steve Don, 43, threw himself under a train after telling his wife that if the local education authority would not listen to him while he was alive, ?perhaps they will if I was dead?.
In a further tragic twist, Brighton and Hove education bosses changed their minds about granting the 11-year-old a place at a school near her home just two hours before Mr Don killed himself, but he refused to believe it because the news only came from a junior official.
