Failing schools threatened with closure

Ed Balls, the Schools Secretary, has threatened more than 600 state schools with closure if they do not improve their results.Mr Balls said scores of secondary schools in England are likely to be closed down and re-opened under new management, insisting the plan would help the poorest children.
