So how do you spot real home business opportunity?

One of the best ways to know whether a home business is legitimate is by doing research – you really can’t miss this stage out.

Research the home business venture online

Go online and look for reviews, or comments in forums about the particular business.

Speak to friends and family about the company

Ask people you know if they have heard about the company you are planning to get involved in – they may have heard something, have had personal experience, or even know someone who has worked with or for the company.

Get social with on the internet

Try to find the business on social networking sites like Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn and see how active they are, how they engage with people, and if anyone has left any negative comments about them – including their customers. This will give you an insight into the company.

Speak to the Office of Fair Trading

Check them out with the Office of Fair Trading (www.oft.gov.uk)- if they have had lots of complaints, then you should steer clear!

Listen to you gut instinct

It’s very important to check out anything that looks too good to be true, because it probably is.

Unfortunately there are a lot of people who enjoy taking advantage of those who are too trusting. So stay one step ahead of the scammers and make sure that you find out everything you can about a home business before signing up.
