Being a mum with responsibilities does not mean you have to be a martyr in a job you hate

Is your job making you feel miserable? Is your employer making it impossible to get the work-life balance you need? Has your passion for your work gone sour?

Having a child can often be a real wake-up call where work is concerned. You may well have been the career woman who didn’t leave e building until you were literally lifted off your seat. Y the security guards who wanted to go home, but now you have a child, you simply can’t do that anymore.

Suddenly, you train yourself to make more effective use of your time at work, so you get your work done to a high standard, but on time so you don’t see why (and don’t want to!) work unnecessarily long hours anymore.

That is often when a lot of mums start having problems at work. Wile you have changed, your colleagues have not and are not going to change, and they start to resent you leaving work on time, or just leaving before they do.

Some employers make working mums feel so uncomfortable at work that they see no other option but to resign. So they are then left out o pocket, with low self-esteem and feel like they cannot work…so they don’t.
