Information overload is extremely hard to deal with – you want to get the right information and learn as much as possible about your business, how to promote it,!reach out to more customers, and make more money etc, but all this information gathering is also costing you time and money. And more over, when you over-research, you end up exhausted and, sometimes, even confused than when you set out!
Most small businesses and mumpreneurs who get started with internet marketing are usually very ecstatic to take on all of the information and resources that are available, but when they realize that there are so much that gets involved with building an online business, they give up and they find it hard to overcome all of the information that they get.
Information overload is about learning and researching, only to find yourself covered by so much information that you don’t know where to start!
Overcoming information overload isn’t all too difficult, but it can take some time before you truly beat the confusion and the difficulties.
The best way to overcome this is to take everything one by one. Don’t confuse yourself by trying to learn everything at one time.
You should also try to adopt one method at a time – following different methods at the same time can only lead to confusion. Also, it will be difficult to know which method works for you and your business if you’re using several at the same time. And trying to use more than one method at the same time when you’re learning will only dilute the effect.
So, if you are starting an online business, for example, you know that your first step Is to get an online presence, so you start looking into how to get a website created, or how to do it yourself. Once you have achieved that, you can then move onto how to promote it – but if you try to learn all about starting a website and social media in one go, you’ll start to get information overload.
For many mumpreneurs, the end result is a feeling that making money online is unachievable, which just isn’t true.
To get started on the right path, don’t keep learning from different sources. Basically, if you find a great mentor, continue to work with that same mentor. If its a training package like what we have on the Mothers Who Work Club, stick it out until you have built a strong foundation in your knowledge. This will help you to do everything without putting so much pressure on yourself.
