A French childminder has become the first nanny to install an internet webcam in her cr?che so that parents can keep an eye on their children even when they are at work.
The move, while popular with office workers, has outraged local authorities and childcare professionals, who see the spyware as a breach of trust.
Val?rie Boccara, 40, whose Lyons home is a registered daycare centre, has installed the camera to reassure working parents worried by reports of abusive minders. In the Lyons area from 1999 to 2006, 55 were disqualified for sexual or psychological abuse or violence.
