Education requirements for prospective nursery nurses are abysmal with some candidates unable to string a sentence together, teachers have warned.
Many have little experience of childcare and are lacking in basic common sense, Voice, the union for education professionals said.
Two years ago, the union, which has 38,000 members warned that illiterate nursery staff who dress inappropriately and discuss their social lives in front of toddlers risk creating a generation of “Vicky Pollards” – the infamous Little Britain character known for her “Yeah-but, no-but” catchphrase.
