With the school summer holidays starting (for some children it has already started!), all the juggling and activities you’ll be doing to keep the children entertained will likely have a huge impact on your working week – especially if you’re a mumpreneur.
Sometimes you many have limited access t friends and family who can take the kids for a day out s you can catch up with your work, so you need to get some of your own strategies to help you stay on top of your business.
Don’t despair – there are many ways to increase productivity. No matter what type of online business you run, these tips will help you be more productive with the time you have:
1. Work in the morning
Waking up an hour or two before everyone else does means you can get your day planned out and get ahead of your workload. It will be quiet, and you’ll be fresh (eventually, honest!) and full of energy, so you can get quite a lot done.
2. Remove distractions
Removing distractions is the best way to gain momentum and to stay focused throughout your day. If you’re working from home and plan to set aside a couple of hours when the kids will watch a movie, for example, don’t get distracted by personal phone calls, social media (unless that’s your field of work) or housework – just knuckle down and stay disciplined and you’ll soon see the results.
3. Outsource
If you really need a hand with the time-consuming elements of your business that are not core to what you do (replying to emails, updating your social media profiles, filing etc), them pay someone else to do it for you.
When you outsource your work, you give someone else the responsibility for certain areas of work, allowing for you to spend time with your family, or do something else for your business.
4. Get an education
No matter what kind of online business you’re trying to build, if you don’t update your skills and increase your knowledge you’ll soon fall behind. These days, training takes many forms and you can learn things via email and online tutorials so you really can find a solution that suits your circumstances.
5. Relax
If you really want to increase productivity, take a breather every few minutes. Information overload and stress only fog the mind and make you feel as though you can’t achieve or that you don’t have enough time, when you do.
Just like everybody else, when you get stuck, there’s no doubt that you won’t be able to get out.
To prevent yourself from struggling during those times that you lack focus, relax and take a breather. This will help you to gain more focus when you go back.
These tips may not work for everybody, as each person deals with different situations and experiences different things. However, I’m sure you’ll find at least one tip that will help increase your productivity.
