If I had a pound for online stores with the perfect products but the poorest website structures that I’ve come across I’d be sipping ice tea on a beach somewhere…all year round.
If you have an online business, you have to come up with strategies to help you generate more sales than your competitors…and what better way to do that than by making those customers who are already on your website spend more.
Here are two simple ways to do just that – and if your website isn’t built to offer these things, you should consider starting again:
- The upsell
Do you know that offering your customers more after a purchase can be a good way to double your sales overnight? They are already in the buying mode – you know that because they’ve just completed the checkout and have arrived at your thank you page. This is a good time for you to offer more products and services related to what they have bought. It;s probably a good time to remind you not to send your customers to a simple ‘Thank You’ page after their order. Instead, send them to a page that contains some of the best deals that they can take advantage of. - Do a sale…all year round
We all love a bargain, and in times of austerity, it becomes more of a necessity than a luxury. It’s a lot easier to do this than you’d think – if you have old product lines that aren;t being promoted as much on your website and you want to shift them, put them on sale. It’s a good idea to have a “discounted offers” or “sale” category on your website that will draw in customers who are looking for a bargain – you’ll be amazed at the impact it can have on your sales.
